A Kind Word

Was reading in Proverbs 12 this morning.  Verse 25 says: “An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.”

My heart isn’t anxious, but everybody enjoys a kind word.  I received an email from a family who visited our church over Labor Day weekend.  They said they were leary when they saw the size of the church, but came on in.  They felt so welcomed by the parking attendents; they said everyone of them must have smiled, nodded, waved or talked to them.  They were then greeted by a number of people before they got in the door and a number of people after they got in the front door.  As we started worship, they were blown away by the music saying it was “awesome”.  And they were very complimentary of the message.  All in all they said, “God is smiling on y’alls church”.  In fact, they said if they were in an hour of driving here, they’d make Grace their home church, not because they’re dissatisfied where they are, but because they totally loved what they experienced at Grace.     I’m so proud of the way our church family serves; we haven’t arrived, but we’re making great progress.

You have no idea how that email lifted my spirit.  This couple simply took the time to share a kind word with us, and boy did it put wind in my sails.  If that simple email could do this, think what a kind word from you could do for someone this week!
