I don’t know about you, but I’m troubled by the things happening in our country; we seem to be divided over many issues and that includes how to deal with our economic problems. While many people may not agree, I’m not sure a “$700 Billion bailout” is the best way to solve our current economic issue. This is just my opinion and I don’t have all the facts; so I’m praying and trusting our leaders will make wise decisons concerning this issue. As I’ve read a number of things related to this crisis, I think Dave Ramsey’s common sense fix has a lot of merit; it makes sense and can be found on his website. You may not like – or agree with – everything he suggests, but he offers some solutions our leaders should at least consider. Regardless of your position, I think we all agree that we are in very difficult times, and I really appreciate the request made by Mr. Ramsey for all of us to pray for our leaders.
When I say I’m troubled I don’t mean I lack peace in the midst of this situation. However, I am very concerned about how it will affect our nation – our standing in the world – and how it will affect our children and their children, but in the midst of the chaos – I still have peace. I was reading in the book of John this morning during my time alone with God and read where Jesus reminded his closest followers: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27) In spite of the chaotic situation in our world and nation, I’m claiming this promise. I know that God is sovereign and in control and while that doesn’t mean we will be free from difficulty – it does mean we can have peace in spite of the panic – knowing our Heavenly Father is in control.
