Right Delight Precedes Right Desire

Ps 37:4 has long been one of my favorite promises from God. “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

I’ve been thinking about this quite a bit lately. Seems like I delight in so many things – but I don’t always delight in God. I want God to be my total delight, but I’m still having to deal with some of the religious stuff that’s been pumped into my heart & mind for years. However, I am learning more of what it means to delight in my relationship with God as I continue my faith journey. I am more acutely aware than ever that I absolutely have no hope apart from Jesus – but through His righteousness imparted to me through His grace and my faith – I am right with God – and that is something to delight in. I still have much to learn – and the adventure is exciting. I believe Right Delight Always Precedes Right Desire….so I want to rightly delight in Jesus. Nuff said.

BJ & Janet were married in July 1977 They have three grown children who are all married: Jeremy & Whitney Rutledge, Chris & Julie Hurst, and Josh and Hannah Rutledge. They also have five grandsons, and a granddaughter. BJ says perhaps our greatest legacy is even though our kids are PK's, they love Jesus and are all involved in ministry in the local church. BJ has served at churches in Dallas - Bossier City, LA - Houston - and was at Fellowship of the Woodlands (Woodlands Church) in The Woodlands before coming to Grace Fellowship.
