I had an incredible experience today in our Membership 101 Class.  A young couple who has been coming to Grace for 4 weeks, joined – and their story is awesome.  I won’t share any names yet, because we talked about doing a video of their life-story and life-change.

The young lady said the reason they came was because your “bald headed music dude – sorry I can’t remember his name” took the time to invite me.  Pastor Jerry (our bald headed music dude)  was shopping for some shoes and she was working at the time.  She said he was with his kids, but took several minutes to talk to her and in that visit invited her to Grace Fellowship.

She told me today that she grew up in an atheistic home and basically never went to a church, but she knew something was missing in her life.  In addition, she and her husband were struggling in their marriage. The first Sunday they came was for the first message in the VELCRO – Making Marriages Stick series and were blown away.  She said she cried through the whole service.  They haven’t missed since then.  She also told me that her kids love the Power Zone and ask every Saturday if they are going to church tomorrow!!!  How cool is that! 

Here’s the best part of the story.  As I talked through membership with them – I found that her husband committed his life to Christ last Sunday in our service on Sticking Together Financially, and she committed her life to Christ during Membership 101 today!  WOW and Double WOW!  They both told me this made sense now, and they were so thankful to come to a place where it people were so excited, their kids had a blast, the music was great, and the talk (message) was easy to understand.

So now we have a husband and wife who have committed their lives to Christ – who are working on their marriage – who  love coming to GF – whose kids love coming and will most likely make commitments to Christ in the coming months/years…….all because a “bald headed music dude” took the time to invite them!

I hope we never forget the power of a simple invitation!
