Can you picture the scene in Remember the Titans where Ray deliberately misses a block so his QB can be sacked? In his act of just standing aside and doing nothing, would you say Ray was playing “for” or “against” his team? Even though the team found another QB and went on to an undefeated season, his inaction affected the whole team and caused a key player to be taken out of the game. So think about it again – was he actually playing “for” or “against” his team?
This morning in my time alone with God I read a portion of Luke 11. In verse 23 Jesus says: “Anyone who isn’t helping me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.”
In light of what Jesus said, if you claim to be a follower of Christ – are you actively working “for” His team, or is your inactivity actually working “against” His team? If you’ve been inactive, maybe it’s time to get off the bench and get back in the game!
