The Significance of Journaling

I pulled an old journal from the shelf a few minutes ago and it fell open to January 10,2003.  It was way cool to see what God was doing in me at that time and how it relates to where I am now.  Here’s my journal entry from that day……

“What a blessing Wednesday night was for me Lord – to preach/teach Your Word and to experience your presence in such an awesome way was incredible.  Thank you for the hope given to me by Marsha who saw a pillar of cloud over the building Wednesday afternoon.  Thank You Lord for reminding me that it’s not about ability or anything else – but it’s about You and Your presence.  You are mighty and awesome.  I praise you.  Thank You for using this night to remind me that You are my provision – You are all I need – I put my trust in You.  Lord, I must preach and teach Your Word – please open that door.  Thanks too for the quote from Bruce Wilkinson in the daily Bible this morning about Issac – ‘There’s not a lot of glamor in quiet faithfulness, but as far as God is concerned it’s more important than just about anything else.’   Forgive me for thinking my signficance was tied to a position or the success of a ministry – help me Lord to live a life characterized by Jesus Christ – a life filled with love for other people and for You.  Grant me grace as I wait upon You oh God – give me wisdom – Thank You for Your incredible blessing.”    (end of journal entry)

Little did I know that one year later I’d be preaching for the first time at Grace Fellowship so Janet and I and the GFC family could make a joint decision about whether to come to this area to be the Pastor at GFC.   What a blessing and answer to prayer;  I’m in awe at what God has done in six short years!
