Science, Scripture & Marriage

Janet and I have been listening to some of the Love & Respect CD’s again.  Love & Respect by Emerson Eggerichs is the best stuff on marriage we’ve ever been through.  We hosted a Love & Respect Conference here at GFC a while back and it ROCKED !

I was listening to a CD this morning after we worked out at JROBS.  Here’s one of the key thoughts;  both Science and Scripture reveal the same thing about the two deepest  values/needs in marriage.  Dr. John Gottman (Why Marriages Succeed or Fail) studied 2000 marriages over a 20 year period at the University of Washington and concluded the two key ingredients in marriage are:  “Love & Respect”.   The Bible said that 2000 years ago;    “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”   (Eph 5:33 NIV)

Men & Women, we are leaky vessels and every once in a while we need a reminder.  Her key need is Love.  His key need is Respect.  Want to go deeper?  Pick up a copy of LOVE & RESPECT by Emerson Eggerichs; you can get it in book form or on CD.
