And You Think Your Family History Was Bad….

Read Mt. 1 in my time alone with God this morning and actually paid attention to the names of Jesus’ ancestors; his family line.  Take a little time to read it and then check out the history of some of his ancestors.  It’s amazing how many wicked people were in the genealogy of Jesus.   In spite of this, Jesus broke the chain of his ancestors & any genealogical curse from His family; in fact, He did this for all of us & our families.

What’s the point?  The point is that no matter what’s in your past, you don’t have to let it control you or determine your destiny.  You can break the chain of curses from the past through the power of Jesus Christ.  The Bible says the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to every follower of Christ.  Eph. 1:19-20 says: I want you to know about the great and mighty power that God has for us followers. It is the same wonderful power he used when he raised Christ from death and let him sit at his right side in heaven.

Therefore, you and I have all the power we need to overcome any situation from our past or from our family history.  Don’t let your past derail your future.  Instead, determine your future by putting your faith in Christ and releasing your past with His power.
