Acts 4:12 says of Jesus: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
In a world where tolerance is elevated this seems extremely narrow doesn’t it? It is. In light of this, and the other clear teaching of the New Testament, faith in Jesus Christ is the only source of salvation for man (John 14:6, Eph. 2:8-9, Titus 3:4-7, Rom. 10:9-10 etc).
Let that sink in.
For me there are at least three implications from this. 1) As CS Lewis stated, Jesus is either Lord (as He claims), lunatic or liar; he didn’t leave us the option of thinking of Him as a good teacher or prophet. If He’s Lord (and He is) then what He says about Himself is true. 2) Morals, good works, being a church member and things like this are all good things – but none of these or any of my self-efforts bring salvation since it’s only found in Jesus Christ. 3) Every person I meet needs to meet Jesus which puts a great responsibility on me (2 Cor. 5:17-21).
