Acts 14:1 NASB says: In Iconium they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a manner that a large number of people believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.
In the NIV this verse says Paul & Barnabas spoke so effectively that a large number of people believed in Jesus.
If you and I are going to fulfill Christ’s mandate (Acts 1:8 & Matthew 28:19-20) to be His WITNESSES, we need to learn how to be effective when we speak. I’m not talking about having some canned approach, but I am suggesting that you know how to share your own story (testimony) and know a few key verses to help someone know how to put their faith & trust in Jesus. Jesus said if we are truly going to follow Him – He will make us fishers of men. So, learn to be a more effective fisherman/woman.
In a matter of minutes you ought to be able to tell someone what your life was like before you became a follower of Christ – how you realized you needed to put your trust in Christ – how you put your trust in Christ – and what your life has been like since you chose to follow Christ. That’s bascially how you can learn to share your personal story.
You can literally share the Gospel (The Good News) about Jesus with one verse even though I suggest you memorize several. Romans 6:23 contains everything you need to be able to share with someone effectively, so I’d suggest memorizing it first. If you want to know more about how to use this verse to share with others contact me and I’ll send you a guide that will help you.
Some other key verses you might want to add to your memory (or mark in your Bible) include: Romans 3:23, Romans 10:9-10, John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 John 1:8-9, 1 John 5:11-13, Titus 3:5, John 1:12, and Acts 4:12.
