I went to the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Challenge in Decatur this past Saturday night and had a blast. The event was awesome, but I especially want to give kudos to the clowns.
I’ve watched rodeo clowns before, but these guys were incredible!
One scene that is etched in my mind was during a break when the professional bull riders were getting ready for the next round and the young cowboys were riding the smaller bulls. One of the young riders (I think he was 11 years old) was knocked out during his ride. Three clowns immediately put their bodies in harms way by covering and shielding this young cowboy with their own bodies. The bull was still twisting, turning and kicking all around them and they didn’t hesitate to protect this young boy. I wish I had a picture of it because it was an amazing act of courage and character. Hats off to the PBR Clowns; they have a lot of fun, but they’re not clowning around.
