Recently I posted a blog about the Christian life being a journey not an event. As a follow up to that, I want to suggest that you check out your spiritual journey thus far and see if you are truly following Christ. I know people who prayed a prayer at some point in their life, but their deeds do not give any evidence of having a relationship with Christ. We are not saved by our deeds; we are saved by His grace when we put our faith in Christ. However, there should be evidence that Christ is in our life by the good things we do (Eph 2:8-10)
I read through Titus this morning – and verse 16 grabbed my attention…..check it out along with the verses that follow and examine yourself.
Titus 1:16 NASB They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient, and worthless for any good deed.
Matt 7:21 NASB “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.
Luke 6:46 NASB “And why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? ”
2 Cor 13:5 NASB Examine yourselves to see if your faith is really genuine. Test yourselves. If you cannot tell that Jesus Christ is among you, it means you have failed the test.
1 John 2:4-6 NLT If someone says, “I belong to God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and does not live in the truth. 5 But those who obey God’s word really do love him. That is the way to know whether or not we live in him. 6 Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Christ did.
If there’s no evidence that Christ is in your life – why not choose to repent (turn from) your sin and make the decision to trust and follow Christ as Saviour & Lord. Here are a few verses to consider: 1 John 1:9, John 3:16, Rom 3:23, Rom 6:23, Rom 5:8, Rom 10:9-10, 1 John 5:11-13.
