Josh Hamilton Autographed Baseballs

We had a great crowd again this past Saturday for our New Saturday Night Service (6pm) and had fun as many of us wore our Ranger attire.

We also encouraged people to bring a guest and if they did – they (and their guest) would get a chance to win one of four Josh Hamilton autographed baseballs. Here are the winners: Maryela Macias & Almansa Tovar and Joday Curry & Michael Thurman. Congratulations!

Some people may wonder why we do things like this. Is it a gimmick? You might call it that, but the bottom line for me is that if giving away a couple of baseballs encourages more people to bring someone who does not attend church – then I’m for it! Paul said he became all things to all men in order to win some to Christ. I believe he was totally in tune with the culture in which he lived and was willing to adapt to that culture without ever compromizing the truth of the Gospel.

Paul was also the one who wrote these words: Rom 10:14-15 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

I hope you believe “you’ve been sent” to the area where you serve. Yes, we are to take the gospel to the street, but there’s also the issue of bringing people to “come & see (hear)” the gospel (John 1:45-46; 4:29). In our culture, we will try anything we can – without compromizing the gospel – to get people to hear God’s truth. We have people commit their lives to Christ almost every week at GFC and we see families & individuals experiencing life-change week after week. That’s why there are times we choose to give away things like baseballs.
