Over the past few weeks we’ve been in a series on prayer at Grace Fellowship and I’m so excited to see the new passion many have demonstrated for prayer. As you continue on this journey, I hope you’ll strive to learn from others. As some of you know, I read a lot and today I finished one of the better and most honest books I’ve read on prayer in years. The book is A PRAYING LIFE by Paul Miller.
As I was reading today, I was struck by a comment he made concerning prayer and faith. He wrote: “Just last week I’d prayed that my Father would show me what feeds a lack of faith in me. I was beginning to see that too much media was subtly framing how I viewed the world.”
It’s not my intent to write some commentary on this statement today, but it grabbed my attention and caused me to ponder the same concept in my own life. Could it be that too much media (and social media) impact our world view in such a way that hinders our faith & distorts our prayer life? Just a thought.
There is a saying, I am NOT sure from where, that goes something like this: garbage in garbage out. Looking at the disciples lives with the time they spent with Jesus. Mark 11: 1 – 6 tells the ONLY item that the disciples asked Jesus to teach them. They, the disciples did NOT ask how to start a church school, the disciples did not ask Jesus how to run a Vacation Bible School, they did not ask Jesus how to run a congregational meeting. They ask Jesus to teach them HOW TO PRAY ! I could go on but am sure everyone knows the value, the comfort, the dedication that prayer provides to a real Christ follower. Still praying, Karl
I missed quoted the Bible reference. It should be Luke 11. Sorry !
