NO GREATER JOY

As we were taking our 2nd grandson Ben to get a “pink” slushy  (cotton candy) at Sonic, I reached back into the car to help him with something and grimaced in pain from a shoulder injury.  Ben turned 3 a couple months ago and he knows I had back surgery recently, but doesn’t know about the shoulder issues.  As soon as he noticed my painful response he said: “Papa B – I want to pray for you.”  He bowed his head, folded his hands and prayed: “Dear God, please help Papa B’s back to get better. Amen!”  Truth is – when he prayed – I felt better all over.  I love his precious child-like faith.

Janet and I have been keeping Ben for a couple of days and as he woke up from his afternoon nap, he spent 15-20 minutes singing several songs over and over with gusto!  He sang:  Jesus Loves Me,  If You’re Happy And You Know It, I’m Gonna Sing Sing Sing – Praise The Lord, and Jesus Loves The Little Children.  Needless to say, it was one of the best concerts I’ve experienced in years.

One of the verses Janet and I prayed for our children for years was 3 John 4.  We’ve continued this by praying the same thing for our grandchildren.  3 John 4 NLT states: I could have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.
