Have you ever considered whether your actions & attitudes are stumbling blocks or stepping stones for people when it comes to moving toward what God desires (His interests)?
Reading in Mt. 16 this morning, Jesus confronted Peter with some very direct words. In Mt. 16:23 we read: But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”
Do we set our mind on God’s interests or our own? What kingdom are we actually serving? Are we stepping stones toward Jesus or a stumbling block that keeps people from Him? These are questions we (yes that includes me) need to be asking ourselves regularly.
One simple example: Today (Sunday) did you encourage others to take steps of faith toward Jesus by inviting them to gather for worship with you & your church family? This is one of God’s interests: Heb. 10:25 NASB Some people have gotten out of the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lord’s coming is getting closer.
