This morning I read…1 Peter 2:1-3 Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander, like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation, if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.
A follower of Christ should desire & crave God’s Word because they’ve experienced the kindness & grace of God and want to grow in their relationship with Him.
An acrostic I’ve used and taught for 30 years is GROW. If you are going to GROW into maturity as a follower of Christ you should engage in four things consistently.
G – Go to God in prayer
R – Read God’s Word
O – Obey what you read
W – Witness
These aren’t about checking boxes or legalism; they’re about growing in a relationship with Him. You read His Word because you love the Author and know the Author loves you; realizing the Scripture is His love letter to you.
We cannot grow into maturity as followers of Christ without a consistent intake & application of God’s Word.
