Devon Energy announced this past week they will be laying people off over the next few months due to the worst energy downturn in years.  These layoffs will take place among all levels of employees.

Many people in Wise County and our church family have jobs with Devon.  I talked to several people after our services this past Sunday who have been with Devon anywhere from 5 to 37 years; none of them are secure in their job at this point, but they showed great faith in spite of it.

Please join me in praying for these families and our community; for peace and courage during this time of uncertainty.  Pray Philippians 4:6-8 will be true for them.  Also pray for the executives of Devon as they have some very difficult choices to make.
