Engage = to do, or to take part in something.
In the pattern for prayer Jesus gave us (often called “The Lord’s Prayer”) in Matthew 6 – Jesus gave us a new way to think about prayer.
Jesus said: 9 “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 ‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11 ‘Give us this day our daily bread. 12 ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’ Matthew 6:9-13 NASB
If you were trying to explain verse 10 to a child, what would you tell them?
In spite of the fact Scripture tells us to pray about everything (Philippians 4:6) what do you think Jesus wanted us to focus on in verse 10?
Do you think it’s possible we should spend more time when we pray; asking God what He wants or asking God for what we want?
What’s the wise thing to do?
