Taking A Break

“Take a break or feel the ache” is a phrase I’ve used in several messages to our church family.  We all need periodic breaks to rest and refresh.

Dr. John Walker of The Blessing Ranch told me a couple years ago; you need a weekly break, a monthly break, and a quarterly break.   He meant take a break from the routine and rest; let your spirit be refreshed by pulling away from the busyness and craziness of your schedule.

During that time with Dr. Walker, I discovered a passage in the Message paraphrase that sums it up for me.  “Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God,
above politics, above everything.” Psalm 46:10 Msg

Step out of the traffic – the busy patterns – disconnect and refresh.  So I’m going to practice what I preach for the next few weeks and take a break from social media, blogs, etc.  At least that’s my goal; we’ll see how well I do with it.

In the meantime, remember that all of us need breaks from time to time; not to fill our calendar and mind with more stuff, but breaks from the calendar and stuff.  Time to relax and let our spirit be refreshed.

Just some random thoughts this morning.
