DEVOTED

Years ago I heard Bill Hybels describe a “fully devoted follower of Christ”.  He and his team took months to pray and think through their definition. It included the five words listed below that begin with the letter “G” (the explanations are mine).

Our spiritual life is a process and journey where “A Growing Relationship With Jesus” involves developing and maturing in…

GRACE – understanding what it means to experience grace through Jesus Christ personally, and being able to share it with others.

GROWTH – there’s evidence to others you are growing and becoming more like Christ; loving & living as He did (in direction, not perfection).

GROUP – you are in community and engage relationally with one another around the truth of God’s Word.

GIVING – you understand and employ the privilege and principle of biblical percentage giving.

GIFTS – you are using your gifts & abilities to serve others and build up your local church.

If you had to evaluate your progress, how would you rate your ongoing development in each of these areas?
