20 Days ago many of you took a 40 day challenge to move from Normal to BETTER Financially. YOU ARE HALFWAY THERE! I hope you’re staying with it. If you’re like me, you’ve probably forgotten to write down an expense at some point. Don’t let that stop you; go back and estimate what it was and add it to your journal, but DON’T GIVE UP on this exercise.
I’m going through the Psalms right now and in chapter 65 I read a verse this morning that I’m meditating on and thinking about throughout the day. The first part of verse 5 says: “You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth…” Keep praying and asking God for wisdom as you work through this challenge and I believe you will see God do something awesome in your life.
Here’s a copy of the blog from day one of this challenge to build margin in our lives financially.
Based on the message from January 15, 2017 at Grace – here are the steps I recommended for you to take over the next 40 days…
Decide today – You want Better not Normal
For the next 40 days
- write down EVERY PENNY you spend
- buy only what you need (no more debt)
- evaluate the outcome on Feb. 25
Don’t read any sales papers or flyers
Get radical about paying off debt
Find and use online tools from Dave Ramsey or Crown.org
Attend our Growth Class that begins in February: I Was Broke And Now I’m Not
Set an initial goal for percentage living
Spend time reading what scripture says about this.
The first passage to read and reflect on will be on this blog tomorrow (Monday, January 16). The others will follow for the next 40 days.
PRAY & ask God to help you stay on track
