1000+ Balloons – It Was Awesome!

Today was such a great celebration at Grace Fellowship.  As we walked into the atrium, there were over 1000 helium balloons – red and yellow, black and white, and brown.  They represented the people who have made a commitment to Jesus Christ at GFC in the past 5 years,  including those who were being baptized today.  It was awesome!

We had two packed out services and baptized 32 people.  It was awesome!  (I say that a lot – but the truth is: “It was awesome!”)  We had a great day of worship, and I thought again of how the angels in heaven celebrate when one person repents and trusts Christ.  I haven’t seen the Welcome Slips yet, so I don’t know who or how many people trusted Christ in our services today, but I do know another child prayed to receive Christ in the Power Zone!  Pastor Jeremy told me about this after the 11:00 am service.  By the way:  It was awesome!

I hope today was awesome for you too!  You and I are called to make disciples (followers of Christ) individually and cooperately as a church.  I want to remind you that if you serve in any capacity at GFC, you had a part in the salvation of those who have trusted Christ and those who were baptized today.  Whether you park cars, change diapers, lead or host a small group, work with children in Small World or Power Zone, strive to impact students in our student ministry, stuff programs, help with our bi-lingual service, greet, sing, play an instrument, help usher people or with special events, run lights or sound, help with props or videos, pray, give faithfully, invite, etc etc —- you had a part in helping these people come to faith in Christ.  If you serve, you ought to be able to say with me:  “It was awesome!”

And some additional icing on the cake for me and Janet was getting to see some longtime friends from San Angelo who surprised us by attending the 9:30 service.  Bob and Rachel Beaver are two devoted followers of Christ who have been our friends for over 32 years.  It was great to see them; they loved worshipping with us today.   It was awesome!

What a celebration – the 1000+ balloons were such a cool visual – the worship was great – the baptisms were fantastic – and seeing old friends was icing on the cake!  All-in-all —— It Was Awesome!

I love that the baptismal is right outside the three year olds window. They all watched and were excited and wanted to know what it was all about and we told them one day they would have Jesus in their heart and get to do that and we all clapped as we watched during the second service. It was awesome!
