As a part of Paul’s personal story – Acts 22:15 says: You will be his witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.
Every person who is a true believer in Christ is given “gifts” from the Holy Spirit that enable them to be effective in a variety of minstries. One of the gifts the Holy Spirit gives is the gift of evangelism which empowers a person to be very effective at sharing the Gospel (Good News) about Jesus with others. Every follower of Christ doesn’t receive this gift, but every follower of Christ is still called to be a WITNESS.
Sometimes, we make this more difficult than we should. A WITNESS is simply someone – who like Paul – tells others what they have seen and heard as it relates to Jesus.
My sons went fishing on Lake Bridgeport recently and both were able to tell me what they saw and heard on that trip – the things that intrigued them – the fun they had – the things they learned! They were being fishing WITNESSES I guess you’d say.
By the way, Jesus said if you’ll follow me, I’ll make you FISHERS OF MEN. That has to do with being a WITNESS for Christ! If you’re a Christ follower, you have a personal story and no one can share it like you. If you’re a Christ follower, you’ve SEEN & HEARD things about Christ in your own life that you can share with others.
As we near Easter, this time lends itself to conversations about what Christ has done in your life – why not share with someone this week – what you’ve seen & heard in your relationship with Christ!
